WHAT IS A CACAO CEREMONY?

The ancient Mayans and Aztecs used cacao for spiritual and ceremonial purposes. In its purest form - unlike much of the chocolate available in the mainstream - it is a powerful assistant for ‘inner work’, creative guidance, and much more.
​
Cacao is a powerful medicine, yet it's gentle and soothing to the heart. In meditation practice, cacao is associated with the heart chakra. It supports the healing process, helps to clear emotional blockages, and stimulates joy and well-being.
​
When cacao is prepared with a prayer and intention to connect with the essence of love, together with the quality and purity of the cacao, it has an effect on the physical level, slowly relaxing the mind.
​
Cacao ceremony is the medium between the physical body and the essence of love within. It helps us to communicate with ourselves on a deeper level, and bring clarity. It helps one see life with the eyes of love and compassion - for oneself, and for others.

I offer the sacred cacao ceremony with a guided meditation, accompanied by my high vibrational crystal singing bowls.
CACAO: PLANT MEDICINE
One of the main active ingredients that we experience in our physiology during a cacao ceremony is Theobromine. Theo-broma literally translates as God-Food, and potentiates the release of dopamine, the ‘pleasure’ hormone. This, alongside phenethylamine, which is known to help relieve stress and depression and which is released in the body during emotional euphoria, creates heightened sensation and empathy. Alongside these, the high amount of nutrients in the cacao support and nourish the body, while also inducing a detoxifying effect on the liver and kidneys.

Due to the euphoria-inducing ingredients, the emotional impact can be profound. Everything feels heightened within the physical and emotional body, including your awareness of your deepest sense of self and of your heart. The experience of love and empathy, particularly for yourself, can literally feel as if your heart is opening like a flower. With this, the body can become flooded with the many emotions stored in the heart, some of which can feel a deep release. The cacao facilitates a deep sense of self-love followed by deep gratitude. In other moments, the sheer ecstasy felt from the cacao can be described as nothing other than a divine experience.

Note: Cacao is not recommended for those taking antidepressants and anti-psychotics [SSRI’s] - these types of medication do NOT mix with the tryptophan and MAOI's (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors) in this cacao.
SETTING INTENTIONS
Drinking cacao in a sacred ceremonial setting invites us to SLOW DOWN and intentionally set time aside for ourselves. This means stepping OUT of the daily hustle, and stepping IN to your higher/inner-self. So often we rush from one experience to the next, without even understanding why we're doing what we're doing. Cacao ceremony invites us to tune in to our inner-knowing, our inner-self, our inner-guidance system, and to take action from a place of inspiration rather than from habit or our "to do" list. Set your intentions, and watch the magic unfold!

Cacao is unlike other plant medicines in that it doesn’t take you on a psychoactive trip; rather, it gently supports you in wherever you’re at. Cacao is a more subtle energy that works with you based on what’s happening internally. If you’re in a “get things done” mode, it will enhance that. If you’re in a creative mood, it will enhance that. If your focus is on slowing down and letting the gap in thinking appear, it will support that. If there are deeper feelings that need to move, it will support that. That’s the beauty of cacao – it’s versatility and non-directiveness. It will show you the door, but walking through it is up to you.

People generally describe cacao as a heart-centered energy because it significantly increases blood flow and generates an expansive feeling, often centered around the heart. Intimacy is easier, whether romantically or simply with feeling a deeper connection with friends. Love seems to flow naturally. Focus is easier and more effortless. Often there will be a gently glowing or vibrating energy. From there, it’s all a matter of where you take it.

Please arrive 10-15 mintues before start time,
to get settled in.

Please refrain from coffee or caffeine for at least 3 hours before the ceremony starts. And please be sure to have breakfast and/or lunch beforehand.

The session will include sitting meditation,
and laying down during the journey.

I will prepare an altar, and you can leave your items on the altar from the beginning to the end, and take them home with you.

Drink plenty of water at least one hour after
drinking Cacao, and throughout the afternoon,
to keep your body hydrated.

Cacao connects you with your heart. It also connects you with something bigger - God, the Universe, Spirit, your higher self, whatever you want to call it. The space you enter when you appreciate it is a phenomenal experience.

I will walk you through the process of self-rediscovery in hopes that you will realize your own truth and wisdom that you are born with.
Healing is so paradoxical, when we realize that everything happens for us, and not to us! The walls that we have created to protect ourselves fall apart. The wall of fear disappears, and in that moment we allow the light of love to enter.
In fact, nothing is to be healed, as you are complete right here and right now - but only through your own loving eyes can you see this quality in yourself and in others.
