Mondays

GENTLE YOGA with Kathleen

Mondays: 9:30 - 11:00 am

This class is great for students who are just beginning and want to gradually open their yoga bodies; mature yogis; pre-natal yogis; those healing from illness or injury; or anyone wanting a gentler, more supported yoga experience. We use chairs, walls and floor to support our postures. Taking the poses one at a time with lots of breath, everyone works at the level that works for their body. Gentle yoga is supportive, allowing time in the posture to use our breath and consciousness to build stamina, energy flow and wellness in our body, mind and spirit.

LEVEL 1-3 IYENGAR YOGA with Kathleen

Mondays: 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Iyengar yoga is a form of Hatha yoga that emphasizes precision and physical alignment of the body. By paying close attention to anatomical details and the alignment of each asana (posture), Iyengar yoga creates balance in the body and mind. Postures are held for a relatively long period; this allows muscles to relax and lengthen, and encourages awareness in the pose. Through attention to proper alignment, Iyengar Yoga encourages weak parts to strengthen and stiff areas to release, thus awakening and realigning the whole body.

Iyengar Yoga often makes use of props (such as chairs, belts, blocks, and blankets) as aids in performing asanas, allowing students to practice with greater ease and stability. Props help support the student to work in a range of motion that is safe and effective, minimizing the risk of injury or strain. They also make postures accessible for students regardless of physical condition, age, or experience. In addition to developing strength, balance and flexibility, Iyengar yoga develops emotional strength and a sense of well-being that helps students handle the challenges of life.

YOGA STRETCH with Harla

Mondays: 5:30 - 6:45 pm

Yoga Stretch is a class designed for individuals wishing to strengthen the back, relax neck & shoulders, tone the extremities (hands, arms, legs & feet), bring flexibility to joints and build abdominal/core stability. Through a series of slow stretches and poses based on proper body alignment, and using  props for support and comfort, we will move through all areas of the body to gently find opening & make space in the body by lengthening muscles and gently stretching joints through movement. By-products of this practice include improved breath awareness, encouraging stress reduction and enhancing the ability to relax.

We practice being “present” in our bodies and working within their given limits to stretch and strengthen the body while balancing our energies. This yoga practice is open to all level of practitioners; no previous yoga experience is required. This practice is regenerative in nature, not contortionism.

SUNSET UNWIND YOGA with Michelle

Tuesdays: 6:00 - 7:00 pm

Set your evening aglow and leave the outside world behind. This class will help you release tension in the body, settle the nervous system, and quiet the mind as you transition from day to night. You’ll be guided through yoga poses, stretching, and mindfulness, led slowly and skillfully.

Many simple poses will be taught dynamically, as we pair breath with easy movements to create a “moving meditation”; while other poses may have a longer static hold to settle in.  We’ll also incorporate some toning and balancing work (through poses like down dog and cobra, and a few standing poses) to offer a well-rounded practice.

This is a gentle practice with enough time to become familiar with poses that may be new, but slightly more active than our “Stretch" and “Gentle" classes.  This class is very accessible to beginners, and those with injuries or physical limitations. Modifications will be offered for students of various levels of experience and flexibility, so that all will feel welcome and benefit from the practice.

Fridays

SOUND HEALING & MEDITATION with Maria
SOUNDHEALING1_edited.jpg

Fridays: 6:00 - 7:15 pm

Everything in nature – from the smallest molecule, to the universe itself – is in a state of vibration. Sound itself is a vibration, and sound healing connects you directly to that universal life force, restoring you to a place of balance and harmony.

The class begins with a sitting meditation that will prepare your body to receive the sound healing. Then, lying on a yoga mat, you’ll experience a soothing guided meditation, the sounds from the Tibetan and quartz crystal singing bowls, and the frequencies from the attunement. The meditations and healing sounds combine to help clear, balance and harmonize your body, mind and soul, bringing you a sense of tranquility and calmness.

Join Maria for this restorative and stress-relieving practice. Beginners welcome!
